Country, MCM, Asian, Folk & Great Stuff
The sale includes several partial contents from Dutchess and Westchester Counties as well as items from Jane and Mark Vail's private collection and select items from the Betsy Finnen estate. The majority of the sale has a distinct folk and country flavor with formal, Asian and Mid Century thrown in. Session 1 begins at 5:00 PM and is Liveauctioneer.com enabled. Chinese, Japanese and Persian items start the sale followed by furniture including a fine Galle cellerette similar in style to the suite in the Musee des arts decoratifs in Paris, a fine Federal sideboard and a large terrestial globe on stand by Dietrich Reimers, Berlin with a brass compass ca 1914. Next comes several lots of art pottery led by a fine Marblehead vase from the Finnen estate. Some artwork, some Hermes and Vuitton, some rare Hagenauer and Frankart and then a group of cast iron kitchenware from Finnen. Clocks, a few swords some Mid Century and rustic followed by a few excellent carpets and ending up the online session with the inevitable group of Susan Kahn oils with Heydenrych frames. At 6:00 pm session 2 opens and is limited to in house, absentee and phone bids only. Gilt frames and 15 estate carpets start it off followed by 400 more lots. Vintage guitars, old electric advertising clocks, a nice stoneware collection, several lots of good country furniture, canes including sword, more rustic and mission merely scratches the surface. Approximately 50 paintings are scattered throughout the sale from a recently discovered Carl Moon landscape to several works by Umberto Romano. There are good lots of silver, bronzes, china and glass, and a much larger than usual collection of varied and interesting smalls. Plan to preview and attend this unreserved auction.
