Important Asian collections Sale

We offered here an Important Asian Collections Sale with around 350 lots of Chinese Antiques, we consigned from Taiyi Studio from Seatlle, WA and two other important private collections from NYC. Introduction to Antiquities of the Taiyi Studio In the mid-1990s, the owner of the studio was invited to participate in a U.S.-China collaborative project which lasted nearly two decades. She traveled to Beijing on a regular basis, and it was at that time that she started to buy ?old objects.? Collecting antiquities sounded so lofty to her, and financially so unattainable. As a Chinese, born and educated in Taiwan and the U.S., she has been fascinated with ancient objects since her childhood. Whether it an old porcelain figurine or an ancient coin, she treasured them dearly. Beijing antique shops and second-hand markets opened up her entire vista of antiquities: colorful porcelain objects, bronze vessels, jades pieces, carved Chinese furniture, teapots, paintings and calligraphy, traditional Chinese musical instruments, -- everything. The numerous antique shops and markets were live museums to her. She could never forget that she was pursued by overly enthusiastic sellers. Once she was secretly asked at Liulichang if she was interested in some unusual antique pieces and then followed the peddler to a dim hotel room to view some rare ?treasures.? The situation changed after she was introduced to Mr. Yang by a mutual friend. As an antiquarian and a connoisseur specializing in Chinese ceramics and porcelain, Mr. Yang said that he learned his ?trade secret? in the early 1970s when he was sent to a remote village to work, where he met a ceramic master and quickly became his disciple. As a scholar of ancient Chinese culture and civilization, she visited Mr. Yang and his antique shop every time she traveled to Beijing. Over the years she gradually built up her own collection: from a small pottery jar of the Hongshan culture period
