Fine Chinese and Asian Art

More than 200 lots of Chinese and Asian art will be offered in our rooms on the 8th of April. For the Chinese art category lots, many will be of interest for the international and local collectors. Amongst the numerous porcelains, two splendid vases stand out. Dated to the Guangxu reign (1875-1908), they are finely decorated with the 'hundred deer' motif. The coral sculptures are of an unusual large size and their rich carving of figures amongst flowering branches is of a very fine quality. A selection of bronzes, dating to the late Ming dynasty (1368-1644) comprise vases, sculptures and censers decorated with archaistic geometric motifs. For the Buddhist religious art, a group of gilt-bronze figures depicting Bodhisattvas and other deities. The jade carvings are magnifically represented by an attractive apple-green jadeite tripod censer and cover with dragons and taotie decoration and a group of jade plaques carved with auspicious symbols. The art of the Indian area is well represented by a grey stone sculpture of Vishnu, dated to the 16th century. The Japanese art lots comprise various Imari porcleains and ivory okimonos. Other categories of objects will be offered within this sale, comprising: Republic porcelains, paintings, folding screens, furniture, precious textiles, many of which belonging to distinguisghed private collections.
