Photography: Snapshots of Life
This auction follows the charm of the unplanned ? be surprised by our collection of ?Snapshots of Life?! A highlight is one of those typical works by the Czech photographer Miroslav Tichý, who started taking photos of local women sunbathing, using equipment that he had built himself. The temperament and the personality of the sitter is impressively unveiled in the amazing black and white portraits by Peter Brüchmann ("Sharon Tate", 1960) and Jacques Hartz ("Duke Ellington", 1960).
True classics of documentary photography include, for instance, a motif from Russia by Henri Cartier-Bresson or a photograph by Astrid Kirchherr, who accompanied the Beatles at the famous theme park ?Dom? in Hamburg. And finally, Werner Bokelberg had the patience for the right moment, when he took the legendary picture of Romy Schneider in front of the Cartier boutique in London.
