Old Masters & 19th Century Paintings
This premium auction comprises works from the 17th to the 19th century, including rare treasures just waiting to be discovered! The group of Flemish Old Master paintings is led by Jan II Brueghel, authoring two scenes from the life of Adam. Hubertus van Hove followed the spirit of Dutch artists of the Golden Age, as it is implemented in his characteristic kitchen interior.
The Munich School is even represented with a number of positions; e.g. Felix Schlesinger?s touching children's composition (?Pfui Dackl?, 1900) and Constantinos Volanakis? poetic depiction of the ?Bay of Volos?, 1890. The Finland study by Isaac Il'ich Levitan is another highlight and will definitely arouse the interest of collectors and museums due to its rarity and artistic importance. The painting ?Winter at Lake Peipus?, 1908, is an outstanding example for Russian landscape painting and one of the highly anticipated lots by Julius von Klever. The selection is completed by a large-format interpretation of the ?Sermon of Capernaum? by Vasily Alexandrovich Kotarbinsky, one of the leading Polish-Russian painters of the 19th century.
