European Furniture

Europe has a long and illustrious history of creating furniture. Antique furniture is widely sold and used today, but these traditions of manufacture also continue, with some great design pieces still being made. This collection showcases the best of European furniture, with highlights including a lovely leather-covered fauteuil, designed by the Austrian architect Adolph Loos in 1932; a wonderful walnut bureau plat, adorned with parquetry, dating from the second half of the 18th century; and four fantastic mahogany Consulat Salon chairs, created c.1800-1815 by Jacob-Desmalter Cie, the most famous furniture workshop in Paris at the time.
