Decorative Art&Design: Art Nouveau & Art Déco

The late 19th and early 20th centuries were incredibly creatively fertile periods, and gave us the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. Artists, designers and craftspeople from this time have left us with a huge number of wonderful items, which would enhance and enliven anyone?s home. Ancient mythology was a very popular inspiration, as represented in this collection a bust of the Greek mythological figure Daphne, made from faience by Ernst Wahliss in Vienna, c.1900. Other highlights include a stoneware Art Nouveau fountain, with typical geometric and floral motifs, made in England c.1900; and a wonderful Art Déco lampstand with a depiction of a female dancer, manufactured in Vienna c.1920.
