Description
This Whimsical very fine hand-carved giltwood Chinese Chippendale Mirror was made in England during the Nineteenth Century. The Rocco Chippendale Mirror exhibits an elegant Chinoiserie design. The English Chinoiserie Mirror has a hand-carved giltwood frame. The Rocco Mirror Frame is an elongated giltwood cartouche carved in classic Chinese motif forms of Pagoda, Foliate, Waterfalls, Rocks, Scrolls, Husks, and Starburst. The Chippendale Mirrors pediment is a hand carved Palm Frond Pagoda above a rocaille and foliate carved pierced frame encompassing the looking glass. The Chinoiserie Designed apron is centered by a rocaille foliate scrolled with a rock base and a cascading waterfall flanked with two reversed C-scrolls coming down to a rocaille plum finial. The giltwood pierced apron is flanked on each side with cascading waterfall finials.
