Description
A fine silver-mounted Ligurian dagger knife, 18th centuryNarrow, tapering, single-edged blade with a long, double-edged point. The blade with a single shallow fuller, the strong ricasso with double fullers, the surfaces etched with a Damascus pattern on both sides. Octagonal grip with delicate silver mountings. The wooden hilt with fine inlays in silver and mother-of-pearl, the lavishly engraved grip frames and ferrules adorned with three-dimensional mascarons and small inset coral cabochons (one has been lost). Engraved silver pommel cap with a row of four mascarons and offset, riveted button. The scabbard in engraved brass, the back of the locket monogrammed "M.A.L.". Length 46 cm.Condition: I - II
