Liu Jiyou (October 3, 1918 - November 5, 1983), a native of Tianjin Known as the "Sage of Contemporary Painting" and "Rembrandt and Michelangelo of the East", he is a great master of animal painting and figure painting with outstanding achievements in the history of modern Chinese art . Liu Jiyou is one of the few modern Chinese painters who is capable of meticulous line drawing, heavy color, small freehand brushwork, and large freehand brushwork .
