Rare AZANDE Terracotta Anthropomorphic Vessel
Beautiful large jug, visibly old
We can see a similar container illustrated in Félix, page203, fig19.
Zande pottery is made by women, as is that of neighboring Mangbetu.
The Zande live mainly in northern Congo DRC, but also in the west of the South Sudan and in the Central African Republic
Characteristics:
TYPE OF OBJECT: Vessel, pot
ETHNICAL GROUP: Zande Azande
ORIGINE: Democratic Republic of Congo.
DRC (ex Belgian Congo, ex Zaïre).
MATERIAL: Terracotta
DIMENSIONS: About 14 1/2 inches high (37 cm)
CONDITION: Correct
