Item Details
Description

American. 1920s. Measuring tapes and tape measures are the same but different. Measuring tapes first came into use in the 1700s for the purpose of tailoring, with most becoming popular in the 1920s. They have cloth measures that pull out and are often novelty items, like many of the items in this Lot. Most have sayings on them, like "three feet in one shoe", "most hats cover the head this covers the feet" or "other turtles have four feet I have seven", while others have cute cats, owls, or flasks promoting Kentucky [sic} whiskey. Tape measures, on the other hand, like those we all use in our homes, are made primarily of metal with retractable metal spring locks. Lot consists of 2 flasks, 1 shoe, 1 hat, 6 turtles, 2 round cats, 1 round owl, and 4 round with decorative patterns. Marked, with humorous sayings on their tops of most.

Size
Range in length from 1" - 2.25".

Condition
Overall very good condition. Minor tarnishing, oxidation, and usewear present throughout all tapes. The cloth tape on the shoe does not retract.
