About the artist: Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, author of art books, publicist.
Vladimir Nikolaevich Afanasyev was born on March 1, 1949 in the village of Pavlovka, Artsyz district, Odessa region.
In 1971 he graduated from the art and graphic department of the Odessa Pedagogical Institute.
In 1977 he founded and headed the Artsyz art school.
Since 1970 V.N. Afanasyev is a participant in regional, republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
In the early 1980s, he was a member of the famous apartment exhibitions organized by Odessa nonconformist artists.
Vladimir Afanasyev is called the Bessarabian Modigliani. His paintings combine elements of realism, cubism, Fauvism and folk art.
In 2002, his book The World of Graphics by the Artist Afanasyev was published.
In 2004, he created a unique book, “The Wedding in the Graphics of Vladimir Afanasyev,” which was presented at the Gorky Scientific Library in Odessa.
Since 2008 - a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
From August 2 to 16, 2014, in the halls of the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, a personal exhibition of Vladimir Afanasyev was held, dedicated to his 65th birthday.
The artist’s works are presented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine, France, Great Britain, Germany, and the USA.
