De-Lite/Polygram Records award for Kool & The Gang album Celebrate! and lead single "Celebration". The album was released on Sept. 29, 1980 and and included the group's only Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit, "Celebration", which has also been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The award features both a "platinum" single and LP and the plate celebrates four million copies sold of the album and single and also has printed (not original) signatures of the group.

Detailed Item Description: This 1980s record label award presented to promotions executive Jack Ashton, who worked at Warner Bros. and other labels through his career.

The award is in Good to VG condition with frame wear and mars on the plexiglass. It has its' original backing paper and, while made by an unknown manufacturer, it was likely Creative Glassics, given the size, shape and location of sticker adhesive residue.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
