Description

Playboy Records award for Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds hit "Fallin' In Love", which was released in May 1975. While this is not an RIAA award, the single was certified Gold by the RIAA on Sept. 12, 1975 for 500,000 copies sold.

Penned and sung by group member Dan Hamilton (written with Ann Hamilton), the track became a #1 hit on all of the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and RPM charts. It also charted in a couple of dozen other countries around the world, but became the only #1 pop charts hit for the Playboy Records label, which operated from 1949 to its' closing in 1978. Remember Dan Hamilton (1946-1994) with this award.

Detailed Item Description: This is a Playboy Records label award that would have been manufactured in 1975, making it approximately 48 years old. It is presented to well-known radio personality and executive Scott Shannon from Z100 New York and many other stations. A letter of provenance from Shannon will be provided with purchase as seen in images.

The award is in VG condition, with a couple of minor scratches on the plexiglass. The solid wood plaque has its original back with Dejay Products Inc. manufacturer label.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
