Pendant ce service d occupation, elle a ete coulee, le 9 aout 1943, par des avions ennemis au large de Caronia, en Sicile. Elle a ete rayee de la liste de la Marine le 20 octobre 1943. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le LST-392 a ete affecte au theatre europeen et a participe aux operations suivantes Operations tunisiennes - de mai a juillet 1943 ,Occupation sicilienne - juillet 1943, Atterrissages de Salerne - septembre 1943, Invasion de Normandie-juin 1944. During this occupation service, she was sunk on 9 August 1943 by enemy aircraft off Caronia, Sicily. She was struck from the Navy list on 20 October 1943.
