Description
"Postern of Fate" [A Tommy and Tuppence Mystery], by Agatha Christie, published by Dodd Mead and Company, New York, 1973. First American Book Club Edition.
Hard boards with black lettering on spine [a little shelf wear]; 5.1/2" x 8.1/2"; label with barred name inside front cover, ink written inside back cover: "Read 7/2010 J.M. / Good/ Read 4/2014 J.M. Very Good"; 275 pages, a little wear, very good condition.
"Postern of Fate" was first published in the UK by the Collins Crime Club in October 1973 and in the US by Dodd, Mead and Company later in the same year.
Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, just retired, have become the proud owners of an old house in an English village. Along with the property, they have inherited some worthless bric-a-brac, including a collection of antique books. While rustling through a copy of The Black Arrow, Tuppence comes upon a series of apparently random underlinings. When she writes down the letters, they spell out a very disturbing message, "Mary Jordan did not die naturally." And sixty years after their first murder, Mary Jordan's enemies are still ready to kill.
Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, Lady Mallowan, DBE [1890-1976] was an English writer known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
