Description
Measurements: ~26.5” x 26.5” framed Some of Jiang’s most collectible artwork has fortunately remained his most conservatively priced. Panda Pride for example can be purchased between $900-$1500 depending on the size and edition. HOWEVER, don’t be fooled! Certain Limited Editions are rare and difficult to find, such as the Jiang Panda Pride artwork presented now in this Intervendue auction. The most popular and easier to find Panda Pride artwork is an edition of 300. This piece of Jiang fine art is numbered 7 of only 75 (7/75) and written using Roman Numerals VII/LXXV. This Limited Edition is also embellished and difficult to find. Therefore, the estimated price range can vary significantly. The consignor stated that he was offered $12,000 for the piece pre-2010. Many of Jiang serigraphs sell for over $10,000. Collector(s) of Tiefeng Jiang’s artwork believe that owning a rarer Edition such as the one being auctioned today, will one day prove itself a substantial high-end investment piece of fine art. This beautiful piece of fine artwork is a perfect example of Jiang’s distinctive style and artistry. He’s one of few contemporary fine artists who has gained international notoriety, recognition and a significant following by art collectors worldwide. Every image has a symbolic meaning. Panda Pride represents peace, friendship, luck & tenderness. This "Panda Pride" is an amazing original & rare Limited Edition – hand-signed and numbered, colorful serigraph/silkscreen, by internationally known artist Tiefeng Jiang. Jiang was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, in 1938. Panda Pride is 1 of 2 pieces of a Suite of Panda artwork by the artist. Jiang is the founder of the Yunan School of Painting, one of the most important contemporary movements of abstract art in China. His works are richly colored and his imagery contains figurative elements with contrasting patterns. Considered to be at the forefront of contemporary Chinese art, Jiang paints as if creating stained glass windows, concentrating on women, horses, birds, and flowers through brightly colored ink and calligraphic lines. Jiang attended the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He studied with the renowned Chinese artist, Huang Yong-Yu. During the 1960s and early 1970s, Jiang was assigned to produce propaganda posters during Mao’s Cultural Revolution. At night Jiang secretly worked on his own style. He works primarily in watercolor and serigraphy and his works have been actively collected worldwide since the early 1980s. From 1976 to 1983, Jiang served on the board of directors for the Yunnan branch of the Chinese National Art Association. He was also a member of the Chinese Woodblock Association. Later, Jiang was an instructor and professor at the Yunnan Art Institute. In 1979, he was commissioned by the government to paint a mural representing Yunnan Province which was installed in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. A year later, Jiang was awarded second place in an international United Nations competition, and in 1983, he came to the United States as part of a cultural exchange program with the University of Southern California. Provenance: Owned by the private estate of a physician in Aventura, Florida, then gifted to his sister nearly 20 years ago. Purposely kept within the family for its symbolic themes.
