8 x 10 in. photographic portrait of a seated Hugo Gernsback. Matted and framed (not examined out of frame, overall dimensions 14 3/4 x 11 3/4 in.). Provenance: Forrest J. Ackerman (1916-2008), American editor, magazine publisher, and science fiction author; acquired by the present owner directly from Ackerman.

INSCRIBED BY HUGO GERNSBACK TO HIS ONETIME LITERARY AGENT FORREST J. ACKERMAN on card laid into frame, "With best wishes... NYC 1959." Celebrated as the "Father of Science Fiction," Hugo Gernsback was a publisher and magazine editor whose best-known work, Amazing Stories, left an indelible mark on science fiction and on the American pop cultural landscape at large.
