Description
Pennsylvania, early 20th century, watercolor. Portrait of an engine and tender from the Lehigh Valley Railroad. An attached newsclipping identifies the artist as young Theodore "Dory" Kitchen. Matted and framed. 11.5" high, 23.25" wide (overall). Theodore "Dory" Green Kitchin was born in Sergeantsville, New Jersey, on Jan. 29, 1871, to Jonathan Kitchin and Sarah "Sallie" Green. He married May Apgar in 1905 and is listed in the 1910 census as living with his parents and working as a civil engineer. In 1915, he and May were living in Lambertville, where he was working as a printer. He died in Trenton, NJ, Oct. 10, 1953.
