Description: A delightful fountain pen by master artist Kyoshu Kawaguchi (1905-1989), depicting a delicately-rendered chrysanthemum on the barrel and Japanese forest grass on the cap in hiramaki-e and togadashi maki-e. Gold-plated R-type Pilot clip and peaked, terraced captop and endpiece devices. Squeeze-filling system. 133mm. Excellent condition, lustrous and glossy – an exceptional example.
According to Murakami, Kyoshu Kawaguchi was a pupil of Oyama Etsuda in 1918, worked as a non-regular staff artist for the Pilot Corporation, and was awarded numerous prizes for his outstanding work. – Murakami, Tomihiro.
