Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli Wucai Porcelain Jar. Potted with a shallow body, slight deep, open round center, dome body, raised on round foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against Wucai design color depicted of flying Qilin careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves. Qilin are extraordinarily beautiful creatures, sparkling like gems and adorned in flames. With their scaly bodies and horned heads, they resemble Chinese dragons. Qilin are symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within blue rings lines. Made in The Years Wanli Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
