Sarmatian or Ancient Roman Gold Cherub Pendant with Garnets, Circa 1st and 3rd century AD
The figure features legs oriented towards its left side, outstretched arms, a round head adorned with simplified features, and curly hair. Drop-shaped cells are attached to each arm, each set with a garnet cabochon. A semi-circular cell extends from the top of the head, embellished with a garnet stone and connected to a suspension hoop. Flanking this central cell are two spirals protruding from the sides of the head.
Provenance: Private collection. Previously acquired on the UK art market, pre-2000 London collection.
