[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Sixth plate postmortem daguerreotype of a young child housed in a Mascher Magnifying Case.
Sixth plate postmortem portrait of a child, shown from the waist up, lying horizontally on a pillow or covered cushion, having a flower resting on her torso. (Very minor imperfections to plate, spotting to mat; rinsed, reglazed, and resealed 1996.) Housed in a full Mascher magnifying case.
Typed poem included with image laments a "Poor little one, Flower upon her breast; Had but one brief hour. She and cut flower, Both are gone; Gone to rest."
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
