Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes culture, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A set of 5 miniature pottery vessels from ancient Mexico including 1 deep container and 4 miniscule bowls. The widest bowl features a checkerboard pattern around the exterior while the remaining vessels are undecorated. One of the miniature bowls features a trio of nubbin legs, suggesting it was perhaps a model of a metate or perhaps a child's toy. Size of largest: 3.7" Diameter x 1.625" H (9.4 cm x 4.1 cm)

Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000
