Native American, Western United States, Plains tribes, likely Oglala Sioux, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A hand-carved catlinite (also called pipestone) pipe resembling a stylized fish with a thick dorsal fin and a raised tail, a mouthpiece emanating from the animal's rectum, and a receptacle in the mouth. Size: 6.5" L x 0.6" W x 2.875" H (16.5 cm x 1.5 cm x 7.3 cm)

Condition
Repair to tail and mouthpiece area, with very small chips along break lines. Abrasions and minor stains, with light charring along top of receptacle, otherwise in nice condition. Great surface smoothness throughout.
