Central Asia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Northern India, Gandhara, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A set of 5 hand-built pottery molds used for creating intricate relief artworks, typically for religious paneling. Included are molds to make a gathering of fruits or nuts; a set of coiling serpents; an elaborate winged horse, perhaps a pegasus; a minimalist hemisphere, perhaps a ball of butter; and a standing depiction of a male deity. Size of largest: 4.9" L x 2.375" W x 1.4" H (12.4 cm x 6 cm x 3.6 cm)

Repair to largest mold, and losses to 2 molds; remaining 2 molds are intact. Each with abrasions, and some with minor softening to some finer details, otherwise in nice condition. Custom putty impressions included.
