A Large Mangbetu Stool Democratic Republic of Congo, c. 19th century Of impressive size (15 ½" high x 20" diameter) and early collection date: c. 1900. Wood with dark brown to black glossy stain, the top and bottom worn and polished from extensive use. In very good condition, appropriate for its age, use, and material; numerous chips and losses primarily around perimeters, not affecting the overall aesthetic of the piece.
