Description
Vintage 78 RPM record from 1946 which credits Lucille Ball on the label as vocal artist. In August 1946, Lucy was present at the sound studio when her husband Desi Arnaz recorded carnival in Rio for RCA records. During the recording session, and strictly as a gag, she approached the microphone and recited the nursery rhyme Peter Piper. Months later she was shocked to learn that RCA Victor had released carnival in Rio and incorporated her nursery rhyme voice into the song, giving her vocal credit on the record label. On December 11, 1946, through her attorney, Lucille Ball filed a $100,000 lawsuit against RCA Victor records , contending the company took her gag seriously. In addition to monetary damages, Lucy also demanded immediate withdrawal of the recording from record stores. Made international headlines. The record is accompanied by photocopies of newspaper articles documenting the lawsuit
