Description
Native American, Southwestern and Northwestern United States, Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A collection of two hand coiled baskets and a lidded cylinder. The base coils are formed from bundles of leaves or grass and then stitched with splints made from other natural plants such as willow, yucca, and/or devil's claw. Size of cylinder: 6.3" Diameter x 5.5" H (16 cm x 14 cm)
