Description
Homesickness is the main theme of this charming WWII-era poster created by Stetson Hats. A GI exchanges his combat helmet for a beret from a young French boy while serving. If he could have his way, he'd much rather be home in America with his Stetson. "Is the berries" was similar to "is the bees knees" in 1940s slang. The jokey parlance, Free French flag, and overall tense of the poster indicates that this poster was likely created after French Liberation, at the War's end.
Stetson was founded in 1865 by John B. Stetson in Philadelphia, after he returned from a trip out West and was not able to find a suitable hat for the expedition. He is known as the inventor of the cowboy hat, and the company continues to make them to this day (Stetson has been bought and sold several times since its founding).
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.
