Item Details
Description
Mounted on original walnut boards, a pair of bronzed profile plaques of Voltaire, a French enlightenment period writer of the early to mid 1700's, and famous American author Mark Twain. The Voltaire wood backing has evidence of an old split/repair, each plaque measures 9.5" x 12" in size, by Jeno (Jean) Juszko (Jusko), Hungarian (1880-1954).
Made by the Metal Products Manufacturing Company of New York City they appear to be dated c.1913 although the markings are very small. Walnut board backs. Jean Jusko was a sculptor noted for his portrait like busts of notable historical figures both past and contemporary to when he was working.
