Grinding wheels have been used for thousands of years to grind pigments and grains. One of the earliest known examples of a grinding wheel comes from Java, an island in Indonesia in which they were made either from stone or a durable wood like teak. The stone or wood fragment was carved into a circular shape and a hole was drilled in the center to allow for mounting on a spindle. This large authentic teak grinding wheel has been repurposed as a decorative coffee table. Set on a custom painted black metal stand, this eclectic coffee table is the ideal accent piece for a rustic, transitional or modern home. The grinding wheel is antique and shows severe wear which gives it more of an abstract shape, adding to the unique rustic nature of it. The top has its aged brown wax patina with beautiful texture. Please note, table top is not even and might not be suitable to hold fragile items.
