Description
Carved from a whole piece of bluestone, the surface retains traces of original polychrome coating, with natural patina and weathered texture formed by the erosion of time in parts; the precious crown adopts a combination of high relief and openwork carving with complicated layers, enshrining a transformed Buddha in the center, surrounded by auspicious clouds, attendant statues and garland patterns in gentle and smooth lines with exquisite and sophisticated carving techniques, fully showing the superb craftsmanship of ancient stone carving statues. It has a net height of 80cm, a facial length of 59cm and a head width of 45cm, featuring a grand and regular shape with well-proportioned proportions, being a classic specification of large stone carving statues with outstanding display and collection value. The transformed Buddha in the center of the crown is the core symbol of Avalokiteshvara's identity, conforming to the typical paradigm of Han Buddhist statuary; the statue has a full and round face with slightly closed eyes looking downward and a faint smile on the lips, conveying the religious implication of compassion and serenity, and possessing extremely high religious artistic value, historical cultural value as well as collection and display value.
