A Superb Pende Female Figure Democratic Republic of Congo, First half of the 20th century, Democratic Republic of Congo The wood covered with red earth pigment (tukula), remains of black pigment on her coiffure, hands and feet, a single metal bracelet on her left wrist. The face handsomely rendered, with half-closed eyes and lips slightly parted showing teeth. An X scarification mark on her abdomen. In good condition, erosion to her legs and feet, hands, and buttocks. Mounted on a metal and wood stand with swivel mechanism.
