AGE: Assume pre WWII. ORIGIN: Apache Reservation, NM. MATERIALS: Generally, willow rod foundation with mulberry and cottonwood; note that unlike the Pima baskets it isn?t flexible at all. DIMENSIONS: 13 in diam. DESCRIPTION: Traditional wide spiral weave with radiating pattern.
CONDITION: It is very faded, but it is in good shape considering. NOTE: Consignors parents went to the US Southwest on their honeymoon in 1942 and picked this and other baskets up.
From a single consignor collection, mostly purchased from private collectors & dealers in the late 1800s & early 1900s per the consignor. All priced appear to be authentic and as described. See pics. E-2537
