Special library binding with publishers "prebound edition" mark on the backboard; red cloth, illustrated front board, re-enforced spine and corner's, hand-written white lettering on spine, residue of the label on the back board, large format: 9" x 12.1/2"; "Discard" inside front cover and front endpaper, 88 pages + two double page 'maps'; a few black ink covered library stamps, many page creases, many of them are repaired with scotch; fair / good condition. This inviting picture book introduces a new generation of youngsters to the exciting story of the hungry wolf, the ill-fated duck, the fortunate cat, the fearless little bird, and the brave and cunning Peter, who helps save his friends from the wolf's jaws-and the wolf from the hunters' guns."

Tony Palazzo (1905-1970) was American artist, illustrator and author of children's books. He studied at Columbia and New York Universities before working as an art director for various magazines for many years. In 1937, he worked as the designer for the John Dos Passos book, The Villages Are the Heart Of Spain. In the 1940's, he began illustrating children's and young adult books. Palazzo received a Caldecott Honor Award in 1947 for Timothy Turtleby Al Graham. In 1949, he started to write children's books. Tony Palazzo illustrated and/or wrote and illustrated over 65 books for children and young adults.
