Description
"Walt Disney's Annette and the Mystery at Moonstone Bay", The Authorized edition featuring Annette [Funicello], star of motion pictures and television" written by Doris Schroeder, illustrated by Adam Szwejkowski, cover art by Al Andersen, published by Whitman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin, USA., 1962.
Color illustrated hard boards covered in the rather fragile peeling clear cellophane [some shelf wear]; 5.3/4" x 7.3/4"; illustrated endpapers are creased at the hinges, 210 pages + 2-page publisher's ad, darkened paper, very good condition.
"The Annette mystery books are not like the Nancy Drew ones. Annette is not a detective on purpose; she just sort of stumbles into situations and tries to help people. She does not operate with two other friends helping her (or one as in the case of the Dana Girls). Yet she does use good thinking and planning when she ends up having to work on something." [a private review]
Initially, "Annette" was a television serial that ran on The Mickey Mouse Club during the show's 1957 season. It starred Annette Funicello as Annette McCloud, a poor, orphaned country girl.
Adam Szwejkowski [1910-2001] is an American artist and book illustrator.
