58.5cm nagasa of shinogiu zukuri form with chu kissaki, iori mune, and kiri nakagojiri with takanoha yasurime. Katanamei signed "Mutsu no Kami Fujiwara (Illegible, looks like Kane?) Taka". Two piece gilt copper and catscratch copper habaki. Hamon appears to be suguha, but with state of polish it is difficult to tell. Tsuba of moku gata form, iron ,with carving heavily softened. Menuki unclear, but appear floral. Tsuka ito loose, particularly at kashira. Fuchi has leather cover with a button, with a male catch on leather wrapped saya, traditionally associated with the marine naval landing forces. Heavily faded label on omote saya. Hanger, detached with cord and red tassels. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with mossing throughout, but has no observed chips missing. Mounts with heavy age related distress and rubs. Leather saya cover good, with some stiffness and cracking at throat. Blade Length: 58.5 Overall Length: 35 - 1/4"
