Artist Biography
Michi Osaka?s art is a contemporary marriage of Eastern and Western Style, Her art is direct expression on surface becoming a visual sensation, and immediate vision and mood. She is drawn to the colors of the 15th Century Italian artists who employed color as an important and convincingly harmonious and beautiful form. To these artisans and masters of yesteryear, color was considered an important means to enrich earthly life. It is from this Renaissance era that Osaka has found inspiration to create her own stylized expression.
Osaka?s creativeness in art has been honored with ?best of show? awards in several Pacific Northwest exhibitions. She has been in numerous group shows in addition to solo exhibitions throughout the Pacific Northwest. Her works are included in various corporations, university collections, and numerous private holdings.
Osaka?s academic background includes a Master and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington where she was a one-time recipient of a Ford Foundation Award. She has studied artistic styles and art forms under the tutelage of Akira Kurokaki of Japan, Jacob Lawrence, and Glen Alps.
