Description
A French parade spontoon with engraved and silver-inlaid decor, 2nd half of the 17th centuryDouble-edged blade with distinctive midrib on both sides. Richly engraved with scrolling leaves, two silver-inlaid warrior busts flanking the shoulder on both sides. Round socket with inserted iron toggle. Octagonal hardwood haft with original fringes, the top third covered in red velvet and densely studded with brass rivets. Octagonal iron shoe with robust reinforcement rings. Length 231 cm.Condition: II
