Description
A German pair of cased percussion pistols, Carl Daniel Tanner & Son of Hannover, after 1854Octagonal barrels of Damascus steel in 10.3 mm calibre. The bores slightly matt with excellent rifling. Silver-inlaid signatures on the tops of the barrels, dovetailed front sights and height-adjustable rear sights. The patent breechblocks inscribed "A" and "B". The back-action percussion locks with finely etched tendrils, set triggers. Beautifully grained wooden stocks with en suite engraved iron furniture. The locks and furniture with a matt finish. Length of each 38 cm. In a case of later date, lined in green felt, containing a range of accessories, e.g. cleaning materials, bullet mould, nipple wrench, ramrod etc. Dimensions 43 x 27 x 6 cm.Condition: II +
