London, late 19th Century, by S. MAW SON & THOMPSON LONDON, a composite set of surgical instruments including tortoiseshell folding scalpels, plated scoops, forceps, director, tweezers, catheters, probes and needles, in roll-up leather case (latch missing) – 15cm. x 4.2cm. x 8.5cm.; and London, late 19th/early 20th Century, by DOWN BROS, ST THOMAS’S ST, BOROUGH LONDON, with eight instruments (not original) including a plated cased trocar stamped H.S.I.G., a metal folding scalpel, a plated scoop and other instruments, in roll-up leather case – 14.6cm. x 3.5cm. x 7.5cm. Note: The Maw case was previously bought at Christie’s, South Kensington on 18th August, 1994 (Lot 157).
