A silver print 70x 105mm with hand written inscription in Russian, dated 1918 and 3 small photographs, in Tehran, one with Ukranian Cossack bodyguard. Pavlovich was exiled to the Persian front by Nicholas II, after his collaboration in the murder of Grigori Rasputin in December 1916, along with Prince Felix Yusupov. This prevented him being killed in the revolution along with his father and cousins. In Tehran he was put under the care of the British Ambassador to Persia, Sir Charles Marling to secure passage to London. Pavlovich was a well-known womaniser, having notable affairs with Pauline Fairfax Potter, an American designer and writer and, in the 1920s, with CoCo Chanel. The photographs come from the archive of Vladimir and Eugenie Kadloubovsky and direct from a descendant of the Kadloubovskys.
