Description
Ancient Imperial China, early Ming Dynasty, ca 1368 to 1644 CE, hand built pottery porcelain bowl with tall walls and squat feet. Great piece, most probably a shipwreck recovered item hence the pale matte finish and fading tones after long exposure to salinity; but at same time, well kept on the deeps. The bowl has a nice shape, faded white ground upon which a register of meandering lines and an abstract zoomorphic figure decorate the basin interior. A very small chip on the upper rim. Provenance: Private Lumberton, Texas, USA Collection, acquired before 2010. NOTE: base is a courtesy of the auction house, not an original matching part, but a gift to our buyers.Dimensions D 8.25" inches / All measurements are approximate / Antique Condition. Damage commensurate with age.
