Description: 168 pp. (12mo) 16.5x10 cm (6¾x4"), period marbled sheep, morocco spine label lettered in gilt. First Edition.Hill describes this as "one of the goriest mutinies in Pacific history" which ended with the authors marooned on the Marshall [i.e. Mulgrave] Islands. Lay and Hussey were the only survivors from the massacre of the Globe's company by the natives. They published this narrative themselves and dedicated it to their rescuer, John Percival. Their journal contains much of interest about the Islanders, as well as a short "Vocabulary" of their language. Howes L158; Hill p. 176.

Rubbing to binding, joints cracked but binding solid, moderate foxing, very good.
