Description: Large Jack Roland “Murf the Surf” Murphy Original Watercolor Painting Boca Grande Seaside 1982. Signed and dated lower right corner. A Boca Grande sign is visible on the left side of the painting on the far shore. Jack Roland Murphy (1937-2020), known as “Murph the Surf”, was convicted of murder in1969. He was also involved in the largest jewel heist in American history, the 1964 burglary of the jewel collection of New York’s American Museum of Natural History. Murphy is also known for being a surfing champion, musician, author, and artist. He was released from prison in 1986 and spent his latter years as an ordained minister, working predominately with inmates.
