**First Time At Auction**

Latin America, Mexico, Hidalgo region, Huasteca culture, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A pleasing pottery olla of rotund form, skillfully hand-painted a semi-opaque beige-on-red design of sunburst-like flowers amongst flourishing tendrils and leafy fronds that meander across the broad shoulder. Sitting upon a concave base, the apple-form body presents smooth walls that spread out to a wide rounded shoulder surmounted by an attenuated neck and flared rim. Size: 11.5" W x 7.5" H (29.2 cm x 19 cm)

Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000
