The Saving of the Colours of Isandhlwana. During the massacre of Isandhlwana, Colonel Pulleine entrusted the Queens Colors of the 1st Battalion, 24th Foot, to the Adjuntant, Lt. Melville, who with Lt. Coghill of the High Commissioners Staff, rode in a valiant attempt to save it. They were cut off by a large band of the Indluyengwe Regiment and perished at the river crossing. They were later awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously. Set number 32 of 250 sets. 8 pieces. Excellent condition. Box excellent.
