Description
Oil on canvas, framed. Attributed to Andre Derain (1880 - 1954). The artwork transports us to a serene landscape scene where the wild application of vibrant hues brings the scenery to life. Amidst this explosion of color, a horse grazes peacefully, embodying the harmony of nature and the untamed essence of Fauvism. Signed Andre Derain on bottom right corner. Label on verso of GALLERIA PERSARO. 50.8 x 40.6 cm (20" x 16"), framed: 66 x 61 cm (26" x 24"). Andre Derain had a major role in the development of two of the most significant artistic movements of the early-20th century. Alongside Henri Matisse, he co-founded Fauvism, a movement characterized by its bold use of color and expressive brushwork. Derain’s works are celebrated globally, and similar pieces can be found in esteemed institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York and Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
